-A new "Q" drive has appeared and I have no access to it... is it a clever virus? It wasn't there when I bought the laptop...Your problem is that when you connected your computer to that Q drive, it could be an external HDD, memory card, iPod, pen drive or any other mass storage device your computer connected properly but you disconnected that drive without first ejecting the drive from your system and now computer still thinks that the drive is still connected, but in reality it isn't so my advice is to get your repair CD and repair your OS that could fix it or if it doesn't fix it, well take it to your IT center/shop.Are you on a network? It could also be a mapped network drive. It could also be a USB device that is attached to the system. iPods can be detected as a storage device and be assigned a drive letter.
This link has info on the 'Q' drive: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/offic鈥?/a>
any usb storage device, external storage device, memory card from dig camera inserted into slot will show as a new drive.
