Why cant my cpu type a letter and move cursor at same time?
-im trying to play an online game where you need to move around using the keyboard and move the cursor to aim, but my cursor stops moving if i press a letterare you using a passive hub to connect the keyboard and the mouse to the computer via one usb port?

I've got lots and lots of pictures and videos and I never ever want to lose them, I've got them all on my laptop at the minute and there not backed up, I'm scared that one day my laptop will break and I will lose everything. I Have A Sims 3 Graphics Question?
-So, I have learned to hate Sims 3, due to lack of Graphics Quality, but with my new gaming computer I built, I decide to try it again.
Well, playing it for the first time today, since I installed it, I notice one thing that has drawn me away the first time...
When I go into a home, the lighting it absolutely terrible, it is so dark that everything, no matter the color, looks black. This is also true when building a home. When something is in a closed area, it looks dark, and it's starting to make me mad.
I want to know which settings I need to change to fix this, there is no way EA did such a poor job on this game, and didn't bother to fix it after testing... I would hate to think this is my graphics card, I have everything set on max settings, and I know my computer can handle this game.
My Graphics Card is an AMD XFX Radeon HD 6800 Series (1GB) Card.
I keep waiting for an update on my Graphics Card, or a game update that will fix this... But nothing yet.

Most people say they prefer to get a gaming pc than a laptop and i think to myself, why spend 1000$+ on a pc for games only when you can buy and xbox 360 or ps3 for 300$.. makes no sense to me :P. Please!!! get a LAPTOP!!! i just got my dell xps 17 from ebay 3 weeks ago... and i play games like starcraft 2 on 1080p hd @ 35 fps.. it is an awesome dextop replacement.

-I have a HP Pavilion Slimline Desktop with a built in mic and i had to disable it for something and when i re enabled it, it wont record what im saying. In Settings it is set as the default and everything. The green level bar doesn't move at all but there is a green check mark and it says "working" beside the mic. CD Drive (D) Somehow Affecting My XP?
-So whenever I start up my Windows XP, every so often, (recently it's been very often) several functions on my computer just won't work, like saving files for instance. I notice that whenever this happens, in "My Computer", the "CD Drive (D)" is present, which by the way, if I double click on or try to open it, my computer freezes. Also, the drive itself will never open CD or DVD files...
However, if I start up my computer and it doesn't appear in "My Computer", everything works fine.
I have no idea what to do, there are no tutorials that I can find anywhere...
I'm assuming it may be damaged, but if there's at least a way to completely get rid of this drive, any help would be nice. Or even better, a way to get it working again.
Can't uninstall it... or delete it either...It may not be your CD Drive but a Rootkit. I am well aware that many times when a person asks a question about a problem they will be inundated with responses about Spyware and use this or that removal program. But I am speaking from experience. Sometimes with a rootkit infection there are no overt problems but suddenly hardware esp CD drives will start to malfunction. You may notice: the inability to copy or burn. The CD drive may appear multiple times in My Computer with addition Drive letters assigned. And as you pointed out--you can not open CD or DVD files. I had the problem in 2009 when I first encountered TDSS rootkit.

Even if a rootkit infection is not your specific problem; check out the link. It helps troubleshoot and repair XP CD drive issues. Consider running a rootkit scanner to play it safe.
Hardware Problem. If you can ascertain that you have no malware issues. Then the CD drive itself may have failed. Usually, the Drive LED Light with behave erratically such as not Flashing when the drive is engaged or strange grinding or even a burnt smell coming from the drive. I have known bad CD drives to stop being detected by the OS but that is not always the case. I have not ever known a malfunctioning CD drive to make the computer freeze but I would not say it's impossible. If you have access to a similar model computer--you can try swapping the Drive. It the machine works fine--then it's a bad CD Drive but if you still have the problems described earlier. I think it is a malware issue.

You may notice: the inability to copy or burn. The CD drive may appear multiple times in My Computer with addition Drive letters assigned. And as you pointed out--you can not open CD or DVD files. I had the problem in 2009 when I first encountered TDSS rootkit.

Even if a rootkit infection is not your specific problem; check out the link. It helps troubleshoot and repair XP CD drive issues. Consider running a rootkit scanner to play it safe.
Hardware Problem. If you can ascertain that you have no malware issues. Then the CD drive itself may have failed. Usually, the Drive LED Light with behave erratically such as not Flashing when the drive is engaged or strange grinding or even a burnt smell coming from the drive. I have known bad CD drives to stop being detected by the OS but that is not always the case. I have not ever known a malfunctioning CD drive to make the computer freeze but I would not say it's impossible. If you have access to a similar model computer--you can try swapping the Drive. It the machine works fine--then it's a bad CD Drive but if you still have the problems described earlier. I think it is a malware issue.
Good Luck.The only solution is to remove and or replace the drive.

Win XP craches to blue screen of death after setup files are loaded. Any ideas?
-When I insert the bootable XP CD it goes through the setup file loading process, but once it says at the bottom starting windows setup it freezes and then after 10 seconds or so goes to the blue screen of death. I was thinking HD, but do not have another SATA HD to test. Any thoughts? Box specs are below.

...Fedora ( couldnt get it to work right) would like to try again.. I have the ISO on a dvd

Look for a CD labeled "Operating System" or "Windows". Insert that into the CD-ROM drive and restart the computer. Depending on your boot order it will say something like 'Press any key to boot from CD...'.
(If it doesn't say that and just starts booting into Windows, you will need to go into the BIOS setup and change the boot order. In that case, look for something that says Setup when the computer first starts. Usually there will be an F-key you need to press to enter the BIOS setup. Example: F2 - Setup. Once in the setup, there will be an option to change the boot order. Move CD-ROM to the top of the list and save the settings. Then restart the computer and look for the 'Press any key to boot from CD....'.)
Assuming you pressed a key, it should take you into Windows setup. There should be an option to install Windows (not repair). I'm guessing you just have one huge partition which is C:\. You'll want to look for a format option and choose to format the partition. After that finishes, choose to install Windows to that same partition. If you follow the on-screen instructions you should be pretty much home free from there.
But keep in mind you'll also need the CDs to install any additional software that might have come preloaded (ie, Microsoft Office). Let me know how it works out!

How do I transfer music in Windows Media player from one computer to another?
-I tried using a flash drive, and was able to transfer the content over from one computer to the other. However, I'm having trouble with licensing. How can i free up space on my XPs hard drive and make it faster?

then click the more options tab on the top, click on the third clean up (system restore),
This will clean maximum space. click ok. Come out from it .
Then go to Disc clean up again, now on the first tab, check recycle bin and temporary internet files, and uncheck others, click ok. restart.
Use a light antivirus, delete unnecessary files from my documents and unnecessary icons from desktop.
Make sure you have minimum of 15-20gb of free space in C: drive so that the OS remains healthy and speady.

Treesize will tell you what on your computer is taking up the most space and you can use Ccleaner to delete System Restore points. Make sure you don't delete any system files though. Why wont my computer play dvds?
-I have just bought a new dvd, it plays on a dvd player but when I put it into my laptop it wont. It recognizes the dvd is in the drive and even shows the name of the film, but when i either double click on it or right click and play, it won't. Why does my computer keep freezing and crashing?
-Well my computer freezes and then completely stops working AT LEAST once a day. But today I was reading some articles and doing some other things and my computer has done it like, five times in the past couple hours! When it unfreezes ever click causes stuff to stop responding. It takes me forever just to get the computer to restart! I'm sick of not being able to play a game, read articles, send emails, IM, or write my novel without stuff freezing! My computer has no signal after a storm.?
-I recently had a storm. before the storm my computer worked fine. after the storm the computer turns on(the light is on and i can hear it running), but my monitor says no signal. any suggestions?It does sound like you had a power surge. I always use a surge protector. But I take extra precautions. If you use dial-up, unhook the phone line during an electrical storm.
Even with wireless I never take chances. I unplug everything during a storm including the surge protector. I've had TVs, phones, answering machines and computers damaged during storms by power surges and they were all on surge protectors. Most recently I had to replace the modem on my computer.

What can be considered undergraduate research in Computer Science?
-The school which i am attending does is not research oriented. I will graduate with my Bachelors of Science in Computer Science by 2013 and I plan to apply to Graduate school. So I am entering my Junior year and I want to begin conducting some sort of research in order to help my chances of getting into a good grad school. But I am not sure what would be considered research. Would I have to come up with completely new data? Or would I be able to study and write a paper on something which has already been studied, and call that research?

The complexity of the games, not to mention the awesomeness of the graphics, goes up exponentially.
For a 64-bit system to work as effectively as possible, you need to have 64-bit hardware, Operating System, and Applications. We are just beginning to see true 64-bit applications come along. In a lot of cases, 32-bit is still good enough, so the move is slow. Probably, the only reason the world ever did move to 64-bit computers, is the RAM issue mentioned above. Windows and some applications were getting to greedy with RAM, so 4 GB became not-enough in some cases.
The width of the data bus inside the computer is different. A 64-bit CPU can add two 64-bit numbers in one go while it takes a 32-bit one two goes. In software, that may affect the definition of an integer - whether it's a 32-bit or 64-bit quantity.
All the Intel family are backwards compatible, so that programs that run on older CPUs will still run on newer ones, and all the old 32-bit instructions are still available. So the old programs run fine. On Linux, 32-bit programs need 32-bit libraries installed, so that you may find systems where the admin has not loaded them to save space, or to discourage legacy software, and the 32 bit versions will not run. That may eventually happen on Windows too.
From the perspective of the average computer user, the most significant thing is that a 32 bit system can't have more than 4GB of memory space. This has to include the memory spaces of your graphics card and other hardware, once those are subtracted from the 4GB then what's left can be used for RAM. A 64 bit system can access more memory than you can get in any home computer today.
So with a 32 bit system if you have 4GB of memory and a 1GB memory card then you'll only be able to use less than 3GB of your memory, and adding more memory won't change this.

How do I remove temporary files?
-So I downloaded a game but unfortunately I did it wrong and now it just won't work... I wanted to re install it but it does not appear in the remove programs list in control panel... Please Please tell me how do I delete all the temporary files related to the game...

-I have a computer tower with an HDMI output on it and a tv with an HDMI input. If I connect the two with an HDMI cable it will work right? I dont need a VGA cable or anything?It will work.

Choosing right webhost/server for RPG?
-I am Trying to create a rpg (text based), similiar to www.theninja-rpg.com, and am looking for a good website/server to host it on. I have a fair amount of programming experience, but am just bad designing html layouts. I am looking for something where you can choose premaid layouts, allows php script, and has mysql tables. Also, IT HAS TO BE FREE, at least starting off. I want to create a base for the website, and possibly upgrade the service if it is good. I have already tried various webhosting sites such as 000webhost.com, zymic.com, and a few others.
The simpiliar the better. I am going to need multiple pages, tables, databases, ext. Any help finding a decent website would be appreciated.
