Re installing windows?

-Hello,

I'm really getting annoyed by my wireless network now. It's been two days I've been trying to connect. It DOES get connected and signal strength is excellent and all. My DHCP is enable. IP and DNS is automatic. No firewall issues. My office network is easily connected. The neighbors don't have any problem at all. My connection says packets are being sent but NO RECEIVED PACKETS. I'm on an HP laptop.

Can anybody tell me if re-installing windows (XP) will help? I tried everything else.RE-install for a connection issue is a bit extravagant, and probably not going to yield satisfaction.

Looks more like the IP is not being resolved throughout the LAN.

If you've modified the router default (which really should be done) then the SSID may have been changed, which means you'll need to "Add" the Network to your Preferred Networks list (done in 'Network' section of Windows).

Give us some idea of what's been done to the router and a more precise solution may be offered.
Let's try something simple for now...

1. Save all your current work, close all open applications, then shut down your computer. Wait for a minute.

2. First, turn your Router off and wait for a couple of minutes.

3. Turn off your modem.

4. Disconnect all the Ethernet cables that are connected to the router and modem and the PC.

5. Reconnect them and ensure that there are no loose connections in between them.

6. Now, switch on your PC and let it boot.

7. Switch on the modem first and after it gets initialized, switch on the router.
